Jim Chatt

Jim Chatt was the bookkeeper and data entry person for Sargent's Fine Art & Jewelry since 2016 when he moved to Maui from California. He was meticulous, conscientious, reliable, trustworthy, kind, and beloved by his coworkers. To say that his death on July 17, 2023 was unexpectedly is an understatement. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2023, underwent 6 weeks of chemotherapy, then died less than a week after completing the treatment.

Jim was born in Rochester, New York, on June 5, 1957. He was the second oldest of four boys (Ed, Paul, John) and one sister (Kathy) who survive him along with his mother (Margaret). Jim spent many years living in Southern California before settling in Hawaii after following his close friend, Liezl, to Maui.

Jim loved sports and the outdoors and went snorkeling every day before work. He was an avid runner and had completed many marathons and Ironman races for which he won awards. He loved his work at Sargent's Fine Art Gallery and developed many friendships over the years. Jim is missed by everyone who knew him. He was the kindest man and would not pass a homeless person on the street without buying them some food. A celebration of Jim Chatt's life will be held sometime in the future.

A Hui Hou and God bless you, Jim!
