Transition
In this painting, the cave represents our everyday life: closed in and not receiving much illumination. At certain times on our journey through life, we are given the opportunity to come out of the cave, to experience an area more spacious and open. Then we can more clearly see what we have painted with our life so far. We then have the opportunity to make changes if we wish. In "Transition" , Bregeda indicates that there does exist a pathway that remains in the light. However, an individual may choose to stay on the previous pathway and return to ordinary life (to lower left in the painting). Here Victor shows that only one of the many people depicted risks going up the road that stays in the light. This is an intimate painting by the artist, revealing his innermost feelings as he makes his own transition.
