Transformation

In this meta-realistic landscape, Victor uses the butterfly to symbolize the human soul. Toward the center of the painting, we see a ladder, Victor's symbol for spiritual evolution and the upward progress of consciousness. The base of the ladder is at ground level, representing the physical and material plane of existance. At this level we see the chrysalis' of butterflies, representing souls at the beginning of their spiritual journey. The butterflies which have hatched out fly upward to higher levels. The top of the ladder touches the hand of God, shown turning the pages of the book of life. From the book emanate flowers formed from butterflies, representing souls which have reached a stage in their spiritual evolution where their interaction together creates harmonious beauty. To the upper right, a butterfly whoses color has faded out (reaching the end of its physical life) flies away upward to further stages of soul transformation. At the bottom right, on the ground, is shown a small caterpillar. With this soul, at the beginning of its spiritual journey, the cycle of transformation will begin again.
